Wanetta Gibson was a 15 year old high school sophomore when she accused Brian Banks of raping her at Long Beach Poly High School. She received a $1.5 million payment from a civil suit brought by her mother against Long Beach schools. Now, a tape has surfaced in which she admits it was all a lie. Too late. Banks lost his football scholarship, spent time in prison, is now a registered sex offender, and his life is ruined. All because Gibson lied about the rape and because in our society if you are accused of rape, evidence or not, you are considered guilty. Especially if you happen to be a Black or Brown man.
There are many women and men who are sexually assaulted and raped every day. This woman, like many others unfortunately do, chose to falsely accuse someone of a very horrible crime. Even though he is free and was exonerated, his life will never be the same. The stigma of being accused of rape never goes away.
I hope the state charges her with larceny for taking money she did not deserve, for making a false accusation, obstruction of justice, and I hope she rots in prison. The time spent investigating her false claims could have been spent investigating real assaults, real crimes. So many women never get justice when they are sexually assaulted and this lying cunt used up resources and time other women desperately need. I also hope everyone in the area where she lives and elsewhere know who she is, her face, and what she’s done so they treat her as what she is, scum.
She ruined one life so it’s only just that her life is ruined as well.

These type of statements annoy me. How might we acknowledge these unfortunate, often untimely inevitable deaths? Should Anderson Cooper make a statement on CNN every day saying R.I.P. to every human being that died today…
People die every day. It’s sad. It’s sadder for those who knew these people. For those who were impacted by these people.
But screw all of you who try and make those who feel some type of why about the deaths of Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Donna Summer, Adam Yauch, Junior Seau, WHO EVER..
People have died in my life but I don’t expect a billboard message in the middle of time square so everyone can mourn with me.. ( -_- ).. & guess what? Even if there WAS a billboard… people STILL wouldn’t mourn… because they didn’t KNOW HIM/HER ! Not in the slightest !
& ya’ll can say, “Well you didn’t know [ insert celebrity ] personally, either !” You’re right ! But we listened to their music, watched their movies, watched them play sports, ate at their restaurant, etc… and some ultimately brought joy to a lot of our lives because of these things. So… shut up.
